🕌 Safeerah Academy – Frequently Asked Questions

How to request links, forms, and technical support?

All links for Google Classroom, absence forms, and other resources should be requested directly from the class admin during class or through the Q&A channels. The teacher/professor is not responsible for technical matters, and asking her about these links or forms may distract from the lesson.

Please note:

  • Do not ask the teacher about Google Classroom links, absence forms, or other administrative resources.
  • The teacher may not know why you cannot upload assignments or why certain technical issues occur on Google Classroom.
  • The admin is your point of contact for all technical issues, links, and forms.
  • Be courteous and patient when requesting resources; the admin will respond as soon as possible.

Following this ensures that the class runs smoothly and the teacher can focus on teaching.

What are the timings/duration of classes?

There are 4 subjects offered in Safeerah al Islam Academy: Arabic, Islamic Studies, Tajweed, and Qur’an. Each subject is divided into levels from beginner to advanced.

Qur’an is mandatory for all students and takes place 4 days a week, from Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Each class lasts 1 hour, divided into groups (B1, B2, etc.).

Tajweed levels include Nuraniyya (2 times a week, 2 hours each) and Tajweed L1-L4 (1 hour weekly). Arabic classes are twice a week, 2 hours each. Islamic Studies covers Aqeedah, Fiqh, Tafseer, Hadeeth, and Seerah (1 hour each day).

Class timings vary from 4 AM Makkah to 2 AM Quran, depending on the group.

Other classes have morning and evening group

What if I miss or am late to a class?

If you miss a class, fill the appropriate absence form for that day. Quran and Nuraniyya/Tajweed/Arabic have separate forms. Islamic Studies does not require an absence form.

If entering a class late (>15 minutes) or leaving early (<30 minutes), follow the same absence protocol.

How to fill an absence form?

Access the Google Form links via Q&A or student reminder groups. Select the class you missed, fill your name, email, group, level, date, and reason for absence, then submit.

Ensure all information is accurate before submission.

My classes are clashing. What do I do?
  1. Attend the Quran class first for at least 30 minutes to ensure attendance.
  2. Other classes typically last 2 hours; request permission from the Ustadha/Admin to attend the other class.
  3. If late (>15 minutes), submit an absence form for the second class.
  4. Do not interrupt ongoing classes; leave a brief chat message instead.

Be considerate of fellow students and instructors to maintain a smooth learning experience.

Can I change my class/group?

You may change groups at the beginning of the semester if space allows. After classes start, group changes are usually final.

Must I attend all subjects/classes?

Attempt to attend all classes. Attendance contributes to your final exam score. Self-learning cannot replace teacher-led classes.

Can I attend any group if I miss my own class time?

You may attend another class as a listener, but it will not count as your attendance. Indicate that you are observing the class.

Attendance and Participation Policy

Attendance is taken by the class admin, 15 minutes after the class start time. To ensure your attendance is taken, please add your name (as written on your registration form) to the chat box after the recording has started and the title of the class has been posted (for recorded classes). Note that putting your name in the chat box before the teacher arrives or before the recording starts/title is posted will NOT be counted.

Participation Marking Scheme

We encourage active participation in classes, as it enhances learning and understanding. Our marking scheme reflects this:

  • Active Participant: Contributing to discussions, asking questions, and engaging with the material will earn you the highest marks for attendance and participation.
  • Absent with Form Submission: Submitting an absence form will earn you the minimum marks for attendance.
  • Listener: Attending classes and listening to the lectures, but not actively participating, will earn you moderate marks.

To be eligible for the exam, you must have:

  • Actively participated in classes more frequently than attending as a listener or submitting absence forms.
  • Demonstrated a reasonable level of engagement and contribution throughout the course.

Please note that simply attending classes or submitting absence forms is not sufficient to meet the exam eligibility criteria. We expect students to engage actively with the course material and participate meaningfully in classes.

What are the expectations for Quran lessons?

In addition to learning new parts of the Quran, students are expected to review and recite previously learned sections. This will help reinforce memorization and improve recitation skills.

How will Quran lessons be assessed?

Quran lessons will be assessed through:

  • Recitation of new parts learned
  • Memorization and recitation of previously learned sections
  • Participation and engagement in Quran lessons
What can I expect from the Quran exam?

The Quran exam will test students' ability to:

  • Recite new parts learned during the course
  • Recite and memorize previously learned sections
  • Apply proper tajweed rules during recitation
What if I struggle with memorization or recitation?

Don't worry! Our teachers are here to support you. If you're struggling with memorization or recitation, please reach out to your Admin for guidance and additional support.

Which classes have recordings?

The live Arabic classes, Nuraniyya/Tajweed, and Islamic Studies are all recorded and will be uploaded to the Google Classroom within 48 hours of the class for viewing by those who missed the class or for revision.

The only class that is not recorded is Qur’an because that is an individual student-teacher interaction with corrections.

Where and how do I get resource materials to prepare for a class or make up for a missed class?

The source books and recordings of past classes are available on the Google Classroom under the classwork link. Just click on the book or recording you want to view.

Remember that even when viewing recorded videos, you must follow the rule of wearing head/earphones if there are adult males in the vicinity.

How do I get the link/join the Google Classroom?

Students will receive email invitations for their Google Classrooms in their registered emails. They should accept the invite to join the class.

Note that invites only work for the person it is sent to. Under no circumstances should links be shared, even with other fellow students. All links should only be obtained by the student herself for her own use.

If any student has a challenge with joining a Google Classroom, notify the relevant admin, or post it in the Q&A of the Telegram group for assistance.
